Verbs (20) - Double Object Verbs

Object ႏွစ္မ်ိဳးရွိတဲ့ verbs ေတြကုိ double object verbs လို႔ေခၚတယ္။

1. အခ်ိဳ႕ verb ေတြမွာ indirect object နဲ႔ direct object ဆိုၿပီး object ႏွစ္မ်ိဳးရွိတယ္။ (Subject + Verb+ Indirect object + Direct object).

2. Indirect object ေရွ႕မွာ to/for ထည့္ေပးရတာလဲ ရွိတယ္။ (Subject + Verb + Direct object + Prepositional phrase indirect object).

3. Indirect object မွာ for သံုးရတဲ့ common verb ေတြကေတာ့-

Book; buy; get; cook; keep; bring; make; pour; save; find, etc.

They booked a table for me at the restaurant.

We made toys for all the children.

4. Indirect object မွာ to သံုးရတဲ့ common verb ေတြကေတာ့-

Give; lend; offer; pass; post; read; sell; send; show; promise; tell, etc.

He gave his programme to the man sitting next to him.

They sent Christmas cards to all their customers.

5. Indirect object သည္ long phrase ျဖစ္ေနမယ္ဆုိရင္ to သုိ႔မဟုတ္ for သံုးပါတယ္။

He showed his ticket to the policeman standing by the door.

We kept something to eat and drink for all the people who arrived late.

6. Indirect object က pronoun ျဖစ္ေနရင္ေတာ့ indirect object ကို ေရွ႕ထားၿပီး direct object ကို ေနာက္ထားသံုးပါတယ္။ (N+V+N+N).

I poured him another drink.

Their mother read them another story.

မွတ္ခ်က္။ ။ verb နဲ႔ တုိက္႐ုိက္ ဆက္စပ္ေနတာ၊ တစ္ထပ္တည္းက်ေနတာဟာ direct object ပါ။ verb နဲ႔ သြယ္၀ုိက္ဆက္စပ္ေနတာ၊ တစ္ထပ္တည္းက်မေနတာဟာ indirect object ပါ။ ဥပမာ-

I poured him another drink.

Pour ဆိုတဲ့ verb က ငွဲ႔ေပး၊ ထည့္ေပးတာ။ ေသာက္စရာ (drink) ကုိပဲ ငွဲ႔ေပးတဲ့ verb က တုိက္႐ုိက္ဆက္စပ္ေနတယ္ (direct object)။ စဥ္းစားၾကည့္လုိက္ပါ။ drink ကုိပဲ ငွဲ႔လုိ႔ရတယ္၊ (him) သူ႔ကုိ ငွဲ႕လုိ႔မရဘူး။ ဒါဆုိရင္ (him) က သြယ္၀ုိင္ၿပီး ဆက္စပ္ေနတာေပါ့ (indirect object)
